Robert J. McLaughlin Robert J. McLaughlin was born in Bethesda, Maryland, September 8, 1952. He received his B.B.A. in 1980 from the University of Hawaii. In 1983 he was awarded a J.D. from the University of Puget Sound School of Law. He was admitted to the Alaska State Bar in 1983. In 1991 he was admitted to the Washington State Bar. He is also admitted to the Federal Courts in both Alaska and Washington. Following a clerkship with the Alaska Superior Court, Mr. McLaughlin served as a Hearing Officer with the Alaska Workers' Compensation Board. Since 1986, he has been in private practice with a primary emphasis on workers' compensation defense. Additional areas of practice include defense of employers under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, as well as liability defense for personal injury claims and defense in maritime claims.
